By the time I was referred to Dr Rubina Kurji the pain in my back was becoming something I had just excepted was going to be a part of my life forever. I had been an athlete all my life in a myriad of sports, rock climbing, MMA fighting, mountain biking , surfing and snowboarding were just a few but a series of injuries a couple years prior , most notably a high speed motorcycle crash , had all but ended my physical pursuits. Every time I went into the gym or on the mountains I would end up with a seizing back and spend from days to weeks laid out and medicated. By the time I got to Dr Kurji I was adding Percocet to my daily vitamin packs just so I could play with my baby daughter.
To say that my healing was instant would perhaps be going to far but I was barely able to walk into that office and 30 minutes later I was enjoying a stroll through Yale Town and marvelling and the quickest alleviation of pain I have ever experienced. This treatment was followed by a perhaps a dozen more treatments over a short period of time just as Dr Kurji said I would need until one day , not so long after I had begun she told me I was fine and that a once a month check up would be good.
I got 22 days of snowboarding in this season, I have taken up kite surfing and hike with my 8 month old daughter in a back pack at least 3 times a week. I recently went for a mountain bike adventure with a friend who is a 5 time Canadian champion and though I really could not keep up , I finished the ride and was snow boarding on Whistler the next day. It is easy and without a doubt that I can say this is directly due to Dr Kurji's incredible work. She not only realigned my body (something thousands of dollars spent on therapy and countless other doctors could not achieve) but she also put me on an intensive cleanse to rid my body of the harmful chemical I had been using to control my pain. My quality of life now is higher than I can remember it being since I was in my teens (I am 39), I am able to be the father I want to be and the couch is finally just a place I rest before the next adventure rather than a home I live on.

I was involved in a serious car accident and Rubina was recommended to me. I was nervous about visiting a chiropractor because I was in so much pain, and thought that “cracking” would make it worse. Rubina was so gentle, using torque release she completely managed my pain through my recovery. I could not have done it without her.

I came to see Dr. Rubina after suffering from multiple car accidents and in a state of chronic pain. Further, doctors had diagnosed me with fibromyalgia and prescribed pain medication that I was taking daily. I had tried all sorts of therapies and nothing had worked. Four years ago I was told that I had breast cancer. Four years later I have had seven surgeries and radiation. But the last surgery almost cost me my life. I came home with MRSA (super bug) and four other super bugs to go with it. I almost didn't survive the MRSA. After six weeks of intervenes treatment with powerful anti-biotic, my liver was not functioning well. I had brain fog so bad I truly thought I had lost my mind. I was bed ridden most of the time. I survived all my ailments, but I couldn't get my body to work anymore. I knew if I couldn't get my self in better health I ran the risk of cancer coming back. I visited Dr. Rubina for the first time in November of 2009 because of lingering lower back pain that was keeping me up at night and limiting my mobility in my day to day life. In my first visit I realized that Dr. Rubina was concerned with much more than the surface pain of my back injury. She wanted to know the details of my greater health and personal history. I told her that I had been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, (PCOS) at age 18, a condition that left both of my ovaries swollen to 3X their normal size, littered with cysts and virtually nonfunctioning. I also had to admit to her that I struggled with insomnia regularly, fluctuations in weight and appetite, and had also coped with anemia. I was taken quite aback when she told me that she hoped, that in treating my spine and my nervous system, that she could help me with all of those things, and also address my back pain along the way.
I have been receiving Dr. Rubina's treatment for six months. I sleep soundly and consistently through the night, my weight is stable for the first time in a decade and my blood work is normal. I recently was sent for a pelvic ultrasound by my family health practitioner to check on the condition of my ovarian cysts and was stunned to discover that my ovaries are of a 'normal size' for the first time since my physician began examining them and the cysts that have been present for over 15 years have virtually disappeared. Even more incredible is that my ovaries have begun to work again on their own, without the assistance of drug therapy, after years of dormancy.
In Rubina I have received the gift of a doctor who is concerned with my 'whole' health. She is keenly perceptive, highly attuned and incredibly kind.
